Tips For Selecting Home Security Products

There are a lot of reported cases on burglary and most of these events happen in residential areas and within homes and the likelihood of them happening in areas without security systems is double of those that have installed security products. Home security is important as it not only protects the members of the family but also valued possessions.

Installation of home security products can be expensive and puzzling since there are many products in the market. It needs enough considerations to find out the type of home security products that an individual would want for his home. While others opt for the products, some decide on security services from reputable firms which offer affordable packages. Since most houses are different it is important to consider the design of the house before selecting a home security product. It is also important to keep basic security practices such as locking doors and repairing worn or old locks to prevent the house from being an easy target to burglars.

Some of the home security products include home alarms; pool alarms motion sensors, and security cameras. Motion Sensors can be installed around the home or inside it to protect against invasion. They contain elements that measure reflection of objects and others scan for body heat. The problem is that they can be triggered by slight movements. Alarm systems can be placed near windows and doors or even in the whole house with wires connected to a local police station. They are easy to install and cost effective. Security cameras may be installed around the house or within an estate. They are intimidating, making them a good choice to ward off would-be invaders.

These products can be useful in many ways if the members of the family are trained on how they work and what they need to do in emergency cases.

Home Security Products to Keep You Safe

Protecting your home and property can be a daunting task in these difficult times. Watching the news only makes you feel more uncomfortable, but there are products available that will ease your concern.

The first thing to do when going out-of-town is to contact friendly neighbors and ask that they keep an eye on your home while your gone. Since they can’t be watching your home 24/7 you may want to buy a few home security products that will deter the criminals.

Obviously the main objective is to make you home an unattractive target for burglars so this article will be headed that direction.

The most obvious product would be an alarm system, which is monitored by a security company but this is on the costly side and many homeowners can’t afford this option. So does that mean you’re out of luck, not at all. There are many less expensive options that can deter criminals without spending a fortune.

Most burglars are interested in stealing your possessions quickly without interruption from the homeowner therefore a home that looks occupied is less of a target than one that appears empty. One item that helps the appearance of home being occupied is the TV Simulator (Fake TV). The Fake TV simulates the light output of a real television. When you are away, this conveys the impression of an occupied home far more than a lamp on a timer ever could. A Fake TV will make your home an unappealing choice for a break-in. So when a prowler sees that flickering glow that means someone is home watching television, he knows to move on to an easier target.

Motion detecting lights and alarms also help aid in the deterrence of burglaries for obvious reasons burglars don’t want to be seen roaming around a home at night.

An Electronic Barking Dog Alarm is also another great home security deterrent. Why would someone enter a home that is protected by a barking, growling dog? A barking dog alarm works even through thick doors, walls, and glass and will begin barking like a true to life angry German Shepherd when an intruder comes within 20 feet of the door.

Security stickers and security signs all help warding off would be criminals to another location that appears more vulnerable.

There are many home security products that will protect you and your home such as door stops, door braces, window locks and more. All of these items will protect your home plus give you a more secure feeling.

Home and Garden Decor With Containers – Where & How Many?

There are some practical considerations when deciding how many planters, pots and container to have on your deck or patio. There is first of all, some very practical considerations such as available space, sun exposure and traffic flow. We always seem to have more containers than we had intended, however, do not clutter up the deck or balcony area. Do a little purging each Spring and decide which ones can be relocated or given away. You do want to have enough room to sit and enjoy the flowers. Here are some basic thoughts about location.

The planters, urns and containers should be placed in groups or pairs with similar combinations to mark the location of doors, stairways and transition areas on the deck. This is a formal way to define or call attend to the entrance to the patio, and also creates the “doorway” between the house and deck. Now we have a definite space and a sense or order.

Be sure that you do not crowd doorways. Leave sufficient room for them to open properly and not hit the pots on your way in and out. The same is true for sliding doors, leave enough room for people to enter and exist without tripping over your groupings.

In order to create a very comfortable outdoor living space, your deck should not be so crowded with plants that you don’t have room for visitors – you will not want your visitors to be afraid to move for fear of knocking something over or damaging one of your plants. For two people to walk side by side easily, your walkways will need to be at least four and a half feet wide.

Don’t forget about your plants. It always seems that the plants spread and grow more than we anticipate and of course higher than the height of the pots. Plants in two foot tall containers will spread at least three feet.

In Utility Areas, before you think about filling your containers, consider that you may need to get to that hose connection, hot tub, electrical outlet or grill. Leave enough room to get around those areas or you will be the one knocking over or damaging one of your plants.

We will continue our discussion next time on how to protect your plants – or how to make your plants comfortable in their space.
